Why buy in Italy?




 


A rich history steeped in centuries of tradition and culture, famous cities and resorts such as Rome, Florence, Milan, Venice, Capri…the reasons why foreigners have for centuries been drawn to the land of la bella vita are obvious.


But even if you are looking to make an investment rather than being seduced by its beauty and way of life, buying property in Italy makes economic sense.

As befits an economy that is Europe's fourth largest, house prices have been rising by an average of nearly 7.5 percent a year since 2004 alone. In some highly sought-after places, however, such as areas around Lake Como, prices have soared by nearly 600 per cent in the past decade. In addition, Italy has no capital gains or inheritance tax.

Given Italy's enduring popularity with visitors from around the world, holiday short or long-term letting remains a surefire means of making your investment pay for itself.
